The former Afghan Whigs frontman began recording this album in 2001-02, but shelved it after the death of his close friend, film producer Ted Demme, opting instead to pay tribute to Demme with the Twilight Singers release Blackberry Belle. Dulli recently returned to the album and completed it, and the end result is a typically strong outing of seamy, soul-inflected rock. - Don Yates
