Portland & Seattle Postponed

The Twilight Singers’ Portland and Seattle shows have been postponed. Greg is experiencing a bout of laryngitis. The dates will be made up this summer. The New Orleans show (April 29) will go on as planned.

Moon Maan Debut

Former Afghan Whigs guitarist Rick McCollum’s new band, Moon Maan, debuted on Friday at The 400 Bar in the Twin Cities, opening for Marah. The previous gigs were McCollum solo dates. Led by McCollum on vocals, guitar and theremin, the band also features Catherine Clements on bass, Bryan Knisley on guitar aand Erik Mathison on drums.* The band will be playing again on Thursday at Turf Club in St. Paul. Has anyone heard this yet? Caught the band live, picked up a demo? Contact SK…

Summer’s Kiss Radio Poll

Over the past few months, Summer’s Kiss has been lucky to receive gifts from a handful of donors. Influenced by the NPR fundraising drive a few weeks ago, I’ve been eager to provide a new service as a thank you to the SK community. I don’t have any umbrellas to give away – but the radio theme stuck. I’d like to know if you’d be interested in tuning in to Summer’s Kiss Radio, a short (30 min to an hour) live internet stream featuring rarities…

Philly Show Webcast

The April 1 show in Philadelphia will (apparently) be broadcast on Studio M Live in the near future. A three camera setup was used to film the show. From their website: Studio M is gettin’ all righteous about the recent filming of Twilight Singers on Friday April 1, 2004 (no joke) at the North Star in Philadelphia. Three cameras, awesome sound and an amazing set from the men in black. For more information on broadcast dates, check this site or sign up on our mailing…

Italy Poster on eBay

Straight from Italy, the afterhours – Twilight Singers poster has made its way to eBay. For your bid, not only do you get a collectible poster (suitable for framing, I may add); but you’ll also be helping to send Josh to New Orleans for the April 29 show. Bid early and often! — Rubik’s Cube not included.

West Coast Surprises

For you lucky guys and gals set to see the Twilight Singers on their West Coast dates, you’ll get a Gutter Twins preview. Mark Lanegan will be joining the band for the California, Seattle, and Portland shows. This means a few surprise numbers added to the set. Just another reason to quit your job, buy an old VW bus, and follow Twilight – trading love beads and incense for food and whiskey.

New Track – Cigarettes

I’m psyched the band has added “Cigarettes” to the set. Here’s what I know about it, or at least what I’ve put together. “Cigarettes” was originally recorded for Amber Headlights, the shelved precursor to Blackberry Belle. It has a dance beat and is a definite rocker. The chorus was later adapted and used for “Follow You Down” on BB. In contrast to how some of the submitted setlists are written, in this case, “Cigarettes” and “Follow You Down” are not separate songs. Lyrics – (my…
