The Section w/ Greg Dulli Recap
Last night, Greg Dulli performed with The Section at The Echo in Los Angeles.
For Greg’s part of the performance, the set was:
Crazy (Afghan Whigs)
Love to Love (UFO)
If you don’t know UFO, you don’t know your space-kraut rock. Michael Schenker is a guitar god. From what I hear, Greg’s quite the fan. You can stream a bit of “Love to Love” at Amazon.

From all accounts it was a great show.
Thanks to everyone who wrote in.

KCRW Vid Still Online
Yahoo! and Google recently unveiled video search as a part of their offerings. Ron pointed out that the Twilight Singers’ KCRW performance from March of last year is still online. If you haven’t seen it, it’s good stuff.

Anybody know what’s up with Studio M’s recording of TS in Philadelphia from April of last year? They’re still hyping it on their home page.
Dulli Interview - Scene Missing
Scene Missing Magazine has an “Inside the Actor’s Studio” style 10 question interview with Greg Dulli.
Uptown Lights on MTV.com
Sure, they got their background facts wrong; but Uptown Lights got a nod on MTV.com.
It’s about halfway down the page.
Backbeat Special Edition DVD
Backbeat, an interpretation of the Beatles’ Hamburg days has been re-released as a Special Edition DVD, out today.
Sure, I enjoy the movie (which is actually pretty good); but I’ll be picking this up for the 5.1 Surround audio. The actual band that performs the Beatles’ live music is comprised of Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore (guitar), R.E.M.’s Mike Mills (bass), Nirvana’s Dave Grohl (drums) and the Twilight Singers’/Afghan Whigs’ Greg Dulli (John Lennon’s vox). Dave Pirner of Soul Asylum also shows up for some reason.
Also, I can’t speak highly enough about the soundtrack. It’s comprised of fun, garage-band covers of Motown and classic early rock material. It’s one of the few albums that I’ve kept on heavy rotation since it was released. Greg’s voice is in top form.

Uptown Lineup Change
From Scott Ford, Uptown Lights bassist:
Due to prior commitments with his own band, Fountains of Wayne, Brian Young has had to step down as the drummer for Uptown Lights. Luckily for us, Bobby Macintyre (Twilight Singers) has agreed to cut short his Miami vacation and return to LA to begin rehearsals and claim his place as the official drummer for the band.
Tix Still Available for Uptown Lights
While Ticketweb says advance tickets for the Uptown Lights show are sold out, don’t fret.
About 100 tickets will be available at the door and more may be released online. So, if you’re shut out, try contacting Spaceland, or get there early on show night.
