SLY in Rolling Stone’s best of ‘04
Critic Steve Baltin planted The Twilight Singers’ “She Loves You” at number 5 in his Top Ten of 2004 list in Rolling Stone.
He had this to say:
5. Twilight Singers, She Loves You (One Little Indian): Greg Dulli took songs from artists as wide-ranging as Bjork and Mary J. Blige and made them into his own soulful, twisted tales of love.

Hello, 2005.
Summer’s Kiss will be taking a holiday break for the next few days. Thanks for making 2004 such a great year for SK and The Twilight Singers. Did you ever think you’d see the day when you’d get two Dulli records in back to back years?
2005 will have a lot to look forward to. With another release from John Curley’s Staggering Statistics on the way, as well as a possible debut from Rick McCollum’s Moon Maan, the Whigs sidemen will continue growing their new projects. Will 2005 also yield the debut from The Gutter Twins or the “lost” Twilight Singers album “Amber Headlights?” Only time will tell.
If you’re looking to pick up a holiday present for yourself, I cannot recommend Art of Modern Rock highly enough. It’s a beautiful, huge documentation of rock posters from the 80s to today. And yes, a certain band from Cincinnati can be found inside.
Happy Holidays & Happy New Year.

Hot Deal-on-Deal Action!
So, in the spirit of crass commercialism (it is the holidays, right?), I’ve put together a couple of deals that may be of interest to you, the Summer’s Kiss reader.
» Afghan Whigs for under $10
If you need to replace your copy of Gentlemen, pick up an extra 1965, Black Love, or What Jail is Like, now is the time! Each of these are selling for only $9.98 at Amazon.com. Give them to your friends. They’ll thank you.
» $10 Shirts at Threadless
I’ve long been a fan of Threadless’ designs. Just indie enough without being stupid. From now until Christmas, every shirt is only $10. One for you, one for your jerk nephew.
» Twilight Singers Tees
While not a deal per se, just a heads up. There are less than 5 shirts remaining in the Large and Babydoll sizes for each design. Get ‘em now. The sooner these sell out, the sooner the new shirts will go on sale. Order before December 10 to ensure Christmas delivery.

Twilight in Blank Stares…
Blank Stares and Cricket Claps, a wonderful UK ‘zine has a cover story interview with Greg Dulli in their latest issue. BSACC also talked to Bobby McIntyre, Twilight drummer in issue #5.
You can download both issues for free from their website as PDF files.
It’s been a while since I’ve read about independent music in a print format. I really miss the feel and smell of cheap paper and still-wet ink. Many online music ‘blogs have excellent writing; but they can’t match the creative layout and implied urgency of an old school ‘zine. These digital pages are close enough to the real thing. Enjoy.
thx Gary
TS - World Cafe Broadcast

If you missed The Twilight Singers on World Cafe with David Dye today, the band performed:
Too Tough to Die (Topley-Bird)
Love/Annie Mae
When You Sleep (My Bloody Valentine)
Dulli talked a bit about Helen Highwater (his high school cover band), his love of Motown, and performing in Backbeat.
