What follows is the latest press release from Howlin’ Wuelf Media, PR firm for the Twilight Singers. It seems that the release date for Blackberry Belle is October 14.
The Twilight Singers are an ever changing collective, a chance for Greg Dulli to be in whatever kind of band he needs to be in at any point in his career. Not a Dulli solo project, but more a particular outfit assembled to record a particular collection of musical moments/compositions.
Listening to Blackberry Belle, the second recording from The Twilight Singers, (due out October 14 on Birdman/One Little Indian) feels like falling without a catcher in the rye to protect you (as embodied in the descending piano opening up the epic “Martin Eden”). And then: scene 2- you are a passenger in a beat-up old Volvo, cigarette butts climbing out of the ashtray in exodus, sliding down Sunset Blvd at 3:30 in the morning, your driver wide-eyed, ambitious and smiling with a cackle. The trip seems like one you have been on before: love, death, that blending of reality and non-reality, sweaty sex (definitely not love), mystery, wonderment and life. Greg Dulli is the driver, a true liver of life, and Blackberry Belle is his tribute to the decadence humans — free and redeemed — are allowed to taste.

TS Date Scheduled
The Twilight Singers (Greg Dulli’s post-Whigs project) will be playing at the 23rd Annual Sunset Junction Street Fair in Los Angeles on August 23rd. The band is slated for the 5:15 timeslot. Not 4:30, as noted on the schedule and previously posted here. The Muffs, The Circle Jerks, and Guided by Voices are also on the Saturday bill. Folk Implosion and The Dandy Warhols headline the Sunday evening stage.
