Moon Man 6/25 Review

I received a note from SK Reader Adam, who saw the Moon Maan show at Station 4 in St. Paul last night. Moon Maan is the new band from former Afghan Whig guitarist Rick McCollum. Here’s what Adam had to say: The show was good–it was great to hear Rick’s guitar on something besides the three Whigs songs he plays whenever Dulli swings through town. They opened with a theremin-enhanced version of “Brother Woodrow”. The closer sounded really similar to “Faded”, in a good way….

Summer’s Kiss Radio Launch

The first broadcast of Summer’s Kiss Radio will be next Thursday, June 24 at 10 PM EST has been postponed. A lightning storm early in the week has caused my Internet Service Provider to be sporadic and unreliable. I’m excited to stream the show; but I want it to be the best possible user experience. So, the show will be postponed until the problem subsides. I have been assured that maintenance being performed tomorrow will fix the issue. Hopefully, the show will go on next…

The paper conducted several artist interviews, and included some words from Greg Dulli. Charles’ influence can be heard in many musicians from this area, including in the work of Greg Dulli, former front man of the Afghan Whigs. Dulli, who now lives in Los Angeles, has delved deeper into soul with his current project, the Twilight Singers, and will release an album of covers in August that…

“New” Black Love Review

PopMatters published a new review of Black Love this morning, as a part of their “My Favorite Thing” series.
