Moon Man 6/25 Review

I received a note from SK Reader Adam, who saw the Moon Maan show at Station 4 in St. Paul last night. Moon Maan is the new band from former Afghan Whig guitarist Rick McCollum.

Here’s what Adam had to say:

The show was good–it was great to hear Rick’s guitar on something besides the three Whigs songs he plays whenever Dulli swings through town. They opened with a theremin-enhanced version of “Brother Woodrow”. The closer sounded really similar to “Faded”, in a good way. I was a little skeptical about the theremin, but it sounds great and Rick looks like he’s having a lot of fun playing it.

On a related Moon Maan note, I got an update direct from Rick this week. They’re hoping to get in the studio soon and put out a fall release. Last week, they played to their biggest crowd with a last minute opening slot for Franz Ferdinand at Fineline. Another July date may be scheduled; but the next “on the books” show is August† 6th with the Melismatics at Triple Rock in Minneapolis.
