Death Cab for Dulli
In a Seattle P-I interview, Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard had this to say about his influences:
“I think the music I write and the music we play has an emotional weight to it. And the bands that I’ve always related to and loved, like Red House Painters or Afghan Whigs, are bands that write intellectual love songs.”
Death Cab is currently promoting their new album, Transatlanticism.
If in any way it is possible to forward this to Mr. Greg Dulli:
After long years of working I have completed a first demo. I have high regard for your art from the first Afghan Whigs Album to the Twiligh Singers. It would be an honor for me to be able to have your opinion of the work.
Thanks for the insparion in any case, Ofir Sharer – Israel

Wow, Death Cab has sold 135,000 of their new record?
That is amazing…and great.
Ofir Sharer,
maybe, you should post your email adress so people could contact you to hear it.
Ofir… I would like to hear what you’ve got. If you have a copy, please send it my way. Let me know, and I’ll send you my address. Thanks. Julie Ferenzi…ultrafhan…
Didn’t Deathcab work a little on the new Postal Service album? Great album if you get the chance to check it out… mtv is gonna kill it… it has already been used in the Mary-Kate/Ashley look alike episode of MADE….
Anyway, looking forward to some more tour dates from Dulli/Lanegan for this summer. I hope they come through Chicago again… although I am more than willing to travel to any of my neighboring states! Another great artist to check out… Matthew Ryan. He has kind of a grass roots campaign going… Has a great voice, but a style quite a bit different from the Whigs/Singers. I found that most Whigs/Singers fans like his style. Check him out too while we wait patiently to hear the latest from Mr. Dulli…. (his hotness…) Julie
I’ll second Julie’s nod to Matthew Ryan. Everything from ‘Mayday’ to ‘Regret Over the Wires’ is beautiful. A super wordsmith.
Funny that you should mention Matthew Ryan — his song “Return to Me” sounds like a Twilight song….
ben gibbard is in the the postal service and he is in death cab for cutie ,so ya death cab worked on the postal service record.
Matthew Ryan’s ‘Mayday’ is a masterpiece. Beauty without pretense. If the opportunity should arise, please give it a spin.

Hey dear people-
I’m Jade; glad I came across with this message board.
I’m a songwriter and a lead singer in a grunge band called ‘wheels Of Epic’.
About 6 months ago, while touring with my band in New- York, I met Mr. Dulli and gave him some lyrics of a solo project I’m working on inspired by his writing and music.
I’ve waited a year to meet him and I was thankful for the oppertunity I got to do so.
Knowing that Mr. Dulli is a busy man, especially nowadays (touring and all) but I’ve been having some E-mail problems lately and for that small chance that he did send me his reply and it got lost somewhere in that ‘internet void’, I’ll be grateful if someone who has any contact with him can please forward this to him, I can’t even start to explain how important it is to me.
Thank you so much-
Jade
