    Anybody have the Chicago setlist?

  2. Jeff says:

If anyone taped the minneapolis set, I would do ANYTHING for a copy. REPEAT: ANYTHING. I have an extensive tradelist. Plus all sorts of goodies.

EMAIL ME: at Jealford@vassar.edu if you can help me or have any kind of leads on how to get a copy.

    be seeing you.
    Jeff.

cigarettes the song they opened with in indy as well? i thought it was just a reworking of ‘follow you down’, contains the chorus and all. that show was the best in my life and i fear everything will be pale in comparison. how is the recording/trading community for the singers/whigs? goddamn, still wanting to relive that indy show. for anyone else, here’s some of the pics i took from the right side of the stage in the very front. http://home.insightbb.com/~blugel/dulli/ simply great fucking show, ya heard?!

  4. kyle says:

Ryan, you are correct, Cigarettes evolved into Follow You Down. it’s a lot faster (as i’m sure you noticed).

i was kinda bummed, cuz i really wanna hear Follow You Down & Feathers live sometime, oh well, was still cool πŸ™‚

I just had a small correction to the posted set list. “Time of the Season” was performed at the end of the first set, following “Black is the Color…”

Great show, probably the best I’ve seen since the Whigs in New Orleans oh-so-many years ago. Now I’ve just got to gather my thoughts for the Pixies on Tuesday night.

I posted some pictures from the show at
    http://www.geocities.com/wolftickets76/twilight
if anybody’s interested. I was using a new camera, my first foray into digital land, so they didn’t turn out as well as I had hoped. But they’re better than artist’s renditions, I suppose.

    Sorry, I’m road-weary. A couple more corrections:

Greg didn’t sing “Retarded” at the end of “Papillion,” I believe that was where he sang “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”

And, after “Roses” he sang the first verse of “The Rose,” then went into the “Layla” coda.

Looking for a Chicago setlist as well….:) SOMEone has it LOL!!!

  9. kyle says:

hey thanks for the corrections Jeff, i was pretty sure i had a bit of those tags and snippits out of order, so thanks πŸ™‚

and i couldn’t remember what the other tag on Roses was, but i knew i remembered the song, just not the name, lol. i think you are correct on Smells Like too, he dedicated Martin Eden to Kurt, then sang Smells Like after Papillion.

Chicago was one hell of a gig! I was at the infamous first Double Door show last year and this one was MUCH better (although, to be fair, that gig was actually pretty good as long as they were playing and Greg wasn’t jawing – more on this later). Setlist (could be a little off but I think this is right):

    Decatur St.
    Too Tough to Die
    That Bird Sings
    King Only
    Esta Noche
    Teenage Wristband
    Twilite Kid
(All You Need Is Love) / Love
Martin Eden (dedicated to Kurt Cobain)
    Annie Mae
Papillon (+ first verse of Retarded, intro’d w/ “The first time I ever sang these words live were on this very stage”)
    Hyperballad
    Black Is the Color

    Encore 1:
    Dancing Queen (Greg Solo)
    The Killer
    Roses
    Ain’t Nobody

    Encore 2:

Don’t Fear the Reaper / Uptown Again
    Somethin’ Hot
    Faded

As I said before, great fucking show. Greg kept poking fun at last year’s appearance – lots of “If you don’t show the love, I’ll start talking” and “Do you want the song, or do you want the 20 minute monologue?” No Black Love, although the Dancing Queen interpretation was really cool. Amazing how Greg can take the most upbeat pop song and put such a melancholy spin on it.

The Metro shows you the love! Hope to see ’em again sometime…

    those were great pictures, jeff…

Yeah, I paid an insane amount of money for upstairs reserved seats, but I was right above the stage. Incredible show, way better that their show at the 400 last winter. I too would be willing to sell my future children for a copy of the Minneapolis show…I have a few tradable gems if children aren’t the preferred currency.

    Awesome show. Dulli is God.

  13. Flint says:

I was at both Metro and Fine Line shows this time around and about three songs of the Minneapolis set I mentioned to my friend that the show was already better. I never once felt that I had spoken too soon. This was after thinking in Chicago that they were better than they had been either night at the Double Door last November. Obviously that must mean they just get better every time they play.

  14. Naomi says:

Awesome!!!! Thanks for the Chicago setlist and comments, Eric. Dammit…I missed the 2nd Encore for fear of missing the train home….wahhhhh.

What happened at Double Door Last year?

  15. Flint says:

Apparently the forums from last year’s shows is defunct so you can’t read up, but if you’re not familiar, Naiomi, there was some minor controversy surrounding the first Double Door performance, which hopefully no one will revisit here. IMHO, they were fantastic both nights, and further IMO, they seem to get better every time I see them.
