i was at that show at liberty lunch in austin. the show was fantastic, and i saw the afterward of the attack. that bouncer got fired, i know for a fact, and a few fans really tried to beat the shit out of him. what a night.

Whigs were too late in 1996 at Rock Torhout (Belgium) (only 3 songs), so Pukkelpop 1998 (also Belgium) was the first gig for me. Dulli is & was an absolute entertainer – they played the wall from pink floyd as extra + The classics from Gentleman and new stuff from 1965. Amazing, one of the best gigs I’ve ever saw.

The 29th of august 1998, how could I forget. It was the first time I saw The Afghan Whigs live.
I remember they opened with Somethin Hot (from their upcoming album 1965) and ended with Faded.

I allso remember a few moments where the crowd disapointed Greg in a way: He started playing Pink Floyd’s Another Brick In The Wall and asked the crowd to sing along. The respons wasn’t all that (at least from where I was standing). Later the beat from Going To Town started and Greg asked the crowd if they were in for a little Stevie Wonder (Supersticious), again no overly enthousiastic reaction.

It still was one of the best concerts of that day (in fact of the entire festival).

I took a friend of mine with me, told him he had to see this band. When they played Faded his jaw dropped open.
