Dirt Leaks & Sneaks
From Boulder Dirt
++ The Twilight Singers, “Powder Burns” (One Little Indian, May 16)
Greg Dulli’s back with the third proper effort from his post-Afghan Whigs project – which hits Denver’s Larimer Lounge on June 12 – and it’s a killer. Sounding more mature and solid than Twilight or Blackberry Belle, the new disc simply rocks in a way not heard since parts of the Whigs’ Black Love. And Dulli, indie rock’s most leering ladies’ man, even sounds like he’s grown up a bit, singing, “I’m ready/I’m ready/To love somebody” on the disc’s pummeling opener.
This one’s in early contention for album of the year.
